This is an un-coached, volunteer-led session. Members are invited to train at their own pace, following their own programme and make use of the equipment in a social, supportive, non-competitive environment.
A first aid-qualified co-op member will always be present but these sessions are un-coached. Members are encouraged to attend a coached session beforehand if they are new to training with weights.
How to organise putting on an open gym session details required here*
Arrive 5 - 10 minutes early to set up by opening the gym. Keep the building front door locked when not in use, unless the reception area is staffed.
Sign in on the clipboard in the lobby area. This is very important for fire safety.
Check the accessible door is unlocked (so that it can be opened via the intercom in the gym) - see Remote Entry guide
Go up to the gym on the second floor and unlock the door. You will need the door codes to enter the main building from the reception area, and further in the building: facilitator's information inc. door codes
Unbolt the double doors at the end of the 2nd floor corridor, enabling access to the toilets without needing the door code.
Open the windows and turn on fans.
Optional: connect to the portable Bluetooth speaker, login to Spotify & put on the playlist. (See below for more information).
Let members into the building using the intercom system.
Check TeamUp to see how many people to expect. Using TeamUp to check off attendance
Once everyone is there, read the gym statement: Statement
A warm-up can be run, but it is the personal choice of the facilitator as the focus of the session is to let everyone approach the time as they wish.
Take pizza orders and allow 45 - 60 mins for delivery. (See below for how to order pizzas).
10 minutes before the end of the session, voice a reminder that the end is drawing near so members can manage their timings.
Ensure all windows are closed, equipment is stored back where it was found, fans are switched off, put the portable speaker on charge and make sure that the door to the gym is locked.
Re-bolt the toilet door.
Lock the accessible door in the main reception.
Sign out at the front desk. This is very important for fire safety.
Lock the front door behind you.
All tenants need to be locking the door behind them when they enter and leave the building. There are a few exceptions to this, we are open on a Thursday 10am-5pm with the Morning Meet Ups and Community Living Room.
All of the above are recommendations (except locking the doors, obviously).
If something doesn’t work, or you don’t feel confident/comfortable with any of it, that is completely fine. Have fun, and thanks for hosting!
Use the tablet & start the Safari app - the homepage shows the Admin account side of TeamUp and should already be logged in*

The keys to the gym will need to be obtained from the lockbox in the cupboard when a member is at one of their usual sessions in the run up to needing it. It's then returned to the lockbox at their next session.
