Bristol Co-operative Gym collaborates with partners to help more people access gym and fitness spaces through customised short courses. Our qualified personal trainers are experienced in working with clients with individual needs.
The concept of community partnership/outreach ties in closely with our Aims, particularly:
§ Reach out to communities who feel excluded from mainstream commercial gyms
§ Work with local community groups
§ To engage people who are excluded from most training facilities
The hope for the future is to be able to find a sustainable way to provide free services to vulnerable and excluded people and self-fund repeating programmes of small-group personal training for people with complex needs or in partnership with individual organisations specifically for their clients.

£30ph
Requires a keyholder to be present (ie someone with Bricks induction and key) to provide site access
This presents some barriers due to the admin/logistics overhead
Requires a building induction and for hiree to be a temporary keyholder
Gym (venue) induction #docs-required
If block booking is all in one day, could have a keyholder or Bricks do open/closing of gym
This is where an external organisation would like us to run a class or short course for their clients on their behalf:
We may also need a representative from their organisation to be present to satisfy our Safeguarding policy .
There would be no requirements for extra keyholders or the added induction logistics as one of our standard coaches would be hosting.
We would need a month's notice before commencing (due to availability)
A Memorandum of understanding would need to be signed between the gym and the external organisation: Memorandum of Understanding
Before commencing, an agreement will need to be reached on publicity and social media communications
Funding* would pay for hall hire costs and coaches fees, e.g. a 6 week course of 'Intro to Weightlifting' is £30ph for coach & £30ph for the gym = £360
This is where an external organisation provides their own trainer for their class or short course.
The trainer would run a BCG class which would be open to all gym members as part of their subscription
The trainer would need to have the relevant qualifications & we would need to verify their qualification level to make sure it is appropriate
Need to have separate insurance and provide this to us
There needs to be a need/demand for the class, at least enough to do a trial
General practice is that trials are 6 weeks long
New content should not start in July/Aug or December due to attendance decline
A notice period of 3-4 weeks is required
Inductions needed to become keyholder
