We use Slack as a simple instant messaging platform. It means that we are able to have a faster turnaround on decisions, or can act as a quick answer to questions that don't require a thread discussion on Loomio. With Slack free accounts (what BCG has) we only have 90 days of history, but this is suitable for our needs.
The Slackspace is open to everyone who uses the gym, so any channels that have a `#` sign (not a padlock) will be open to co-op voting members, past gym attendees, current gym attendees, or even just people who are thinking about coming down and have found it some other way.
It's important to note that non co-op members will be on Slack to, so you must not post door codes or any sensitive information in the channels.
There's also private IM (instant messaging) channels for some subgroups:
· co-op-director-chat
· co-op-coaches-chat
We can add more private channels as necessary, and delete them when no longer needed.
Slack will be the recommended platform to use for IM-ing people, but if you already have Signal/Whatsapp/some other chat groups on the go that's totally fine!
If you already had an account, you can access Slack here https://bristolcoopgym.slack.com/.
If you don't already have access to BCG Slack - you can sign up here - https://tinyurl.com/bcg-slack
The mobile app is also really good.
Slack has lots of excellent how-to tutorials:
