Certain documents and folders within Google Drive need to have restricted access permissions. This could be because:
The information is sensitive and contains personal information about our users, and we are required by our GDPR policy and our confidentiality policy to restrict access.
Unrestricted user access can lead to accidental data exposure. This isn't to say someone would intentionally share or change information incorrectly, but they may be ignorant of what they should or shouldn't do with their access.
By restricting user access, it can limit the damage done if an account is compromised. Particularly when considering point 1.
Google Workspace makes it easy to manage a shared drive.
On the left-hand side, chose which drive you'd like to view: 'My Drive', 'Shared drives' or 'Shared with me', etc.
2. Click the 'i' icon in the circle on the top right. This will provide further details about each item. You can see who has access.
3. Click the 'Manage access' button under 'Who has access'. This will open a pop-up prompting you to 'Manage members'. You can choose between 'Bristol Co-operative Gym' or 'Members'. In the example both users already have access.
